Charleston Gastroenterology Associates, PLLC was established in 1979, we serve West Virginia and surrounding areas with all its gastroenterology needs. Our physicians are trained in the latest techniques in order to provide optimal patient care. From screening colonoscopy, treatment for reflux esophagitis, diagnosing cancers such as esophageal, colon, liver and pancreatic and the latest treatment for medically necessary weight loss, CGA physicians are prepared to treat your conditions. Our staff and physicians take pride in our patient care and being responsive to your healthcare needs.

Meet Our Team

Jeremy R. Stapleton, DO

Dr. Stapleton is a gastroenterologist and is from West Virginia. He was born in Charleston and grew up in Logan, WV. He attended West Virginia University and the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. He trained in Gastroenterology at the University of Louisville in Kentucky. Dr. Stapleton completed his training in 2011 and has been practicing with our group since then. Dr. Stapleton performs routine procedures such as colonoscopy and esophagoscopy as well as advanced procedures like ERCP, Endoscopic Ultrasound of the colon, liver, and pancreas. He practices at Thomas Health-WVU Medicine, Charleston Surgical Hospital, and Charleston Area Medical Center. Patients are referred to him state-wide as well as from Southern Ohio and Eastern Kentucky for his expertise in advanced gastroenterology.

Mohamad Sankari, MD

Dr. Sankari attended medical school in Beirut, Lebanon which was completed in 1982. He came to the United States in 1986 where he completed fellowships in Chicago and New York. In 1994 he came to Man, West Virginia to work as a practicing physician. Since 1996 he has worked in Montgomery, WV as a gastroenterologist and since 2008 he has worked in Montgomery as well as Charleston. Dr. Sankari is dedicated to patient care. He has been a clinical professor with WVU since 2001 and is an avid West Virginia University sports fan.

Jeremy D. Cumberledge, MD

Dr. Cumberledge was born and raised in the Kanawha valley. He did undergraduate studies and medical school at Marshall University. He went on to be a resident at University of Kentucky and was Chief Resident for Internal Medicine before going to West Virginia University for fellowship and was the Chief Fellow for
the fellowship at WV.His practice includes all aspects of general gastroenterology, ERCP and has a special interest in diseases of the anorectum including hemorrhoids, fissures pelvic floor issues and others.
Currently while at Charleston Gastro, Dr, Cumberledge has been specializing in esophageal disorders and reflux treatment with bravo PH probing, He is also treating patients with esophageal motility disorders, with high resolution esophageal manometry, surveillance, and radio frequency ablation. He is married
and has three young boys.

G. Joel Reynolds, MD

Megan Hanson, CFNP

Megan Hanson grew up in Lincoln County, WV and attended Duval High School. She is a graduate of Harding University in Searcy, AR and has worked with Charleston Gastroenterology for over 10 years, originally as a nurse and now a nurse practitioner. She resides in Sumerco, WV with her husband and four children.

Sarah Fletcher, CFNP

Sarah Crandall-Fletcher is originally from Summersville, WV graduating from Nicholas County High School. She studied nursing at Marshall University from 1990-1994. She worked at CAMC General Medical/Surgical Unit and CAMC Memorial Endoscopy unit while completing her Master’s Degree as a Family Nurse Practitioner at Marshall University 1995-1998. She taught nursing at the University of Charleston and worked Family Practice at Braxton Health Associates prior to coming to work at Charleston Gastroenterology in 2002. She now resides in Elkview with her Husband and 2 daughters.

Dr. White grew up in St. Albans, West Virginia. He attended West Virginia University School of Medicine which he completed in 1982. He completed his gastroenterology fellowship at the University of North Carolina. He has been a practicing gastroenterologist with Charleston Gastro since 1986. In his free time, he enjoys WVU sports and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
